Alison Moyet is celebrating 40 years as a solo artist with Key, a collection of 16 re-worked songs and two new tracks. The material spans her 1984 solo debut Alf through her 2013 release The Minutes, only omitting her most recent 2017 album Other and her 2004 covers album Voice as sources of material. Working with Sean McGhee, her long-standing musical director for live shows, Moyet aimed “to look at the trajectory of those decades and explore songs that, in their original form, were never fully realized or have had their relevance to me altered by time.”

Moyet rose to fame as part of the legendary synth-pop duo Yazoo (known as Yaz in North America). The collaboration between Moyet and Vince Clarke released two albums in the early ’80s before disbanding. They reunited to tour in 2008, something Moyet discussed in our 2017 interview with her.

Key is out on October 4, 2024, and can be ordered here. Moyet will be touring extensively in 2025, starting in the UK and Ireland (all dates are listed on her website. She also has a podcast, 40 Moyet Moments, which explores key moments of her 40-year career as a solo artist.
